Almost all the HP printer models provide print, scan, copy, and fax functions. However, the setup process varies for each printer model.

PRINT

  • Turn on your HP printer.
  • Install the necessary printer driver(s) on your computer.
  • Open the application and choose the document that you want to print.
  • Click File > Print.
  • Choose your HP printer correctly and click Print to initiate the print operation.

COPY

  • On your HP printer’s scanner glass or in the ADF, load the original document that you need to copy.
  • Now, tap or press Copy.
  • Configure the copy settings as per your needs.
  • After configuring the settings, press the Start Copy Black or Start Copy Color button or the Copy icon.

SCAN

  • Initially, install the scanner driver on your computer.
  • Next, load the original document on your printer’s scanner glass or in the ADF.
  • Initiate the scan operation from your printer by pressing the Scan button or from the HP printer software. 
  • Scan and save the file to your computer, email, or cloud storage.

FAX

  • Prepare your HP printer for the fax operation.
  • On your printer’s scanner glass, place the document with the printing side facing down.
  • Select the Fax option from the printer’s menu list or press the Fax button on the printer’s control panel.
  • Enter the Fax number and other important details in the given fields.
  • Press or select the Start, Send, Go, or Fax button to initiate the fax operation.

123 HP Printer Printing Methods

A wide variety of printing methods are offered by HP printers. Scroll down this page to know the different printing methods and how to perform the setup for the same.

For macOS: 

After connecting both the devices to the same network, you need to add the printer to your Mac computer.

  • Open the Print & Scan or Printers and Scanners window on your computer.
  • Click the Add button.
  • Now, add the printer by following the on-screen instructions.
  • Select the Secure AirPrint or AirPrint option from the Use menu.
  • After adding your printer to the computer, print a test page.

For iOS: 

  • Open the document or photo that you want to print.
  • Tap Share > Print > “HP Printer.”
  •  Configure the print settings and tap the Print button.
  • Initially, make sure that your HP printer supports the ePrint feature.
  • Next, enable the web services on your printer.
  • Add your HP printer to the HP Smart app.
  • While adding the printer, perform the on-screen instruction to get your printer’s unique email address for ePrint needs.
  • After getting the email address, open the email application on your computer or smartphone.
  • Add the attachment that you want to print.
  • You can also print the email message that you have received from someone by clicking the Forward button.
  • In the To field, type your printer’s email address and click Send.
  • Now, your HP printer will start to print the received document.
  • The Google Cloud Print service is no longer supported. Instead, you can use other options like ePrint. 

Three steps to set up the Mopria Print service

  • Connect your HP printer and the Android smartphone to the same wireless network.
  • Install the Mopria Print app on your Android phone. 
  • Turn on the Mopria Print Service on your phone from the Settings menu to finish the setup.

USB SETUP

For Windows or Mac

  • Disconnect your HP printer from the Windows or Mac computer if already connected.
  • Install and open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Click the Plus button to begin the USB setup.
  • Connect your printer to the computer using a USB cable only when prompted by HP Smart.

For Chromebook

Using a USB cable, connect your HP printer directly to your Chromebook.

  • Open the Settings screen.
  • Select Advanced > Printers > Add Printer.
  • Now, the HP printer that is connected to your Chromebook will be displayed on the screen.
  • Select the printer and click the Add button.
  • In case your printer is not displayed, click the button named Add Manually and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the USB setup.

WIRELESS SETUP

Usually, when you turn on your HP printer for the first time, the Wi-Fi Setup mode is enabled automatically. This mode is available only for a limited period of time. In the absence of the Wi-Fi Setup mode, you can use other methods like Wi-Fi setup using the printer’s control panel, the WPS method, or the Wi-Fi Direct feature to connect your printer to a wireless network. To perform the Wi-Fi setup using the Wi-Fi setup mode, follow the below instructions.

  • Restore your printer’s default network settings to turn on the Wi-Fi Setup mode on your printer.
  • After restoring the settings, install the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
  • Launch the app and sign in using your HP account. 
  • Click the Add or Plus button and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the Wi-Fi setup.

ETHERNET SETUP

  • Begin the Ethernet setup by connecting your HP printer to the router, access point, or hub using an Ethernet cable. 
  • Connect your computer to the same network.
  • Install the printer driver on your computer to complete the Ethernet setup.
